We recently had our first ever group holiday in Fife staying at The Rings which has fully accessible accommodation. We had the whole cottage to ourselves and were able to borrow any equipment that we needed. There were trips to Fife Wildlife Park and Anstruther. The weather was glorious and lots of memories . Asked what he enjoyed most, Rhuardidh said everything !

The weekly Big Lunch at Bloom House has been running for almost two years . Caitlin is our regular chef assisted by her Support Worker. There is a focus on everyone trying fresh , healthy food.

It is really important to us that we listen to feedback about the service and this can be gathered at Review Meetings ,staff appraisals and informal opportunities and social events.

Surveys have started to go out to the people we support and their families so that we can hear their views about their service.

One person told us that they “get the best out of life and are supported with the opportunity and delivery for that”

Another person said that they were treated with respect and “ if I wasn’t I would say

One of the things we love at New Directions is hearing people’s stories. Today we heard from one young person about how they had recovered from a serious illness and have been learning how to surf ,which is a remarkable achievement. Their Support Workers had encouraged them to aim high and they certainly did.

In September a group of of us did the Edinburgh Kiltwalk , with the majority signing up for 21 miles. Collectively they walked an amazing 226 miles and raised £2085 . We will be consulting with the people we support and the team on how best to spend it.
